State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat today said the historic 7 March speech of Bangabandhu simultaneously gave a clear message of independence to freedom-loving people and vagueness one to anti-liberation forces.
"I found two interesting elements- vagueness and clarity at a time, in Bangabandhu`s 7 March speech . . . those who were in doubt about Liberation War and against it became confused after listening to the speech, but the pro-liberation people got clear message what was saying and what to be done," he said.
Arafat was addressing a discussion and documentary film screening ceremony on the historic 7 March speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as the chief guest at DFP auditorium at Tatya Bhaban in the city`s Circuit House road here this evening.
Department of Films and Publications (DFP) organized the programme marking the historic 7 March with its Director General SM Golam Kibria in the chair.
The state minister said those who were against the Liberation War and didn`t get the clear message tried to make controversial comments about the 7 March speech after the liberation.
"There was no problem in the speech, but problem was in their (anti-liberation people) heart and soul," he added.
Highlighting significance of protecting the 7 March speech, Arafat said, "Can you imagine, had the speech couldn`t be preserved, what kind of controversy they (anti-liberation force) would have created over it?"
He thanked the people who recorded the speech and preserved it braving threats to their lives and said due to their herculean task, the generation after generation could listen to the speech.
Putting emphasize on instilling the history of the 7 March speech to the next generations, the state minister said the history should be delineated like story so the country`s people can understand and realize it.
Contributions of the heroes of Liberation War to achieve the country`s independence should be presented to the next generation as it will inspired them to grow with patriotism, Arafat said.
He wondered why the 7 March speech was kept hide ignoring bloodshot eyes of military rulers in independent country after August 15 in 1975. "Was it proved that the Pakistani occupation forces returned to the country after 1975?" he posed a question.
Senior Secretary at the Information and Broadcasting Md Humayun Kabir Khandaker was present at the function while Additional Secretary at the ministry Dr Mohammad Altaf-Ul-Alam, Mass Communication Department Director General Md Nizamul Kabir and Press Institute Bangladesh Director General Zafar Wazed spoke at the discussion, among others.
